week 5

this week i experimented with transferring photos to canvas. it took a couple tries to get it to work well...but i loved the results!

it's a pretty simple process.
to try an image transfer, you'll need:
acrylic gel medium
a laser printed image
and a surface to transfer to

first, spread an even coat of gel medium to the surface of your choice with either a brush or your finger.

next, place the image face down on the gel and burnish it a bit with your fingernail to make sure the image makes good contact with the surface you're transferring to.

let it dry completely.

dampen the paper with water and gently rub the paper away. this is the hardest and most time consuming part of the project since it takes a little while to get all the paper off. i found it easier to work on it some and then let it dry before trying again.

i'm looking forward to making more of these...but in the meantime here is how my first attempts came out.
